Dottie Katie Hoffman was the daughter of Florence (Rothermel) Hoffman and Ira Irving Hoffman. Dottie was born June 13th,
1921 and died February 1995. She was baptised at the St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown, Pennsylvania. One day
at a park, Albanus "Bench" had asked her out on a date. She had declined his invitation numerous times and this
time she figured she would say yes to see if he would leave her alone. That evening while at home, she mentioned it to her
mother and asked her if she would tell him an excuse so that she wouldn't have to go. Her mother, Florence, told her "If
you said yes, then you are going to go!" So she went on the date and continued to date him even though she didn't really
care for him. He was so outgoing, loud, and she considered him obnoxious. As time went on, her feelings started to change
and she fell in love. The eventually got married in 1941. And lived happily ever after. Dottie "Mem"was known
for playing her organ, her crocheing, her dinners and her never forgotten favorite show, Sally Jesse Raphael, which wasn't
all that big of a deal, but as her granddaughter, I can still hear in my head, her saying her name "Sally Chesse"
with that wonderful Pennsylvania Dutch accent.
